MANILA, Philippines — Presidential and vice-presidential candidates should make a “selfless act” by forming a grand coalition to defeat the Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte-Carpio duo in the May 9 election, the official said. vice-presidential candidate Rizalito David. Sunday.
During the vice-presidential debate organized by the Elections Committee (Comelec), David admitted that none of the other candidates could beat Marcos and Duterte-Carpio, who are regular favorites in pre-election polls.
“So I call on my fellow candidates: let’s form a grand coalition to defeat Marcos and Duterte,” he said, speaking in a mixture of Filipino and English.
“Please do a selfless act. Let’s beat Marcos and beat Duterte together because we can’t do it alone,” he said.
He said he was saddened that Duterte-Carpio did not attend the debate, especially since she was leading in pre-election polls.
“We were unable to hear his opinion on this matter. I wish Inday Sara was her so she could share her perspective on these things,” David said.
“We’re in a battle of wits here, but we should split 50%, based on the polls. And she’s so happy up there. Today Sara, we hope you’ll attend. We even just want to hug you hand,” David said.
