UCLA’s best bet to win the Pac-12 in 2022 against USC, according to CBS Sports

While everyone in the Pac-12 is talking about USC entering the 2022 college football season, the Trojans might not be the best bet to win the conference, according to CBS Sports. David Cob. In a recent Pac-12 Championship odds breakdown, Cobb revealed that he thinks the UCLA Bruins are the best bet to win (+750), while USC is the worst bet on the board (+ 200).

“UCLA finally made significant progress in coach Chip Kelly’s fourth season finishing 8-4 (6-3 Pac-12),” Cobb wrote. “With the quarterback Dorian Thompson Robinson back for a fifth season and running back Zach Charbonnet Returning after rushing for 1,137 yards, the Bruins should be able to maintain or improve offensively after last year’s unit ranked 31st nationally and second in the Pac-12 in total offense . Defense is a huge question mark as an NFL journeyman and college assistant Bill McGovern enter to replace Jerry Azzinaro as the coordinator of an underperforming unit with a few holes to fill. But +750 is a great value for what could be the best offense in the league.

Cobb also explained why he thinks USC is the worst bet to win the conference.

“Like UCLA, USC looks likely to field one of the best offensive units in the conference, but has a ton of questions to answer defensively,” Cobb wrote. “The Trojans ranked 89th nationally in total defense last season, and it’s not like Lincoln Riley’s Oklahoma teams are known for their prowess on that side of the ball. By avoiding Oregon and Washington out of the Pac-12 North, the Trojans are more likely than UCLA to reach the championship game. But are they nearly four times as likely as the Bruins to win the conference, as the odds suggest? It’s exaggerated.

CBS Sports’ Shehan Jeyarajah recently detailed the biggest challenge every coach faces in their first season at a new Power Five school. For USC and Riley, winning will be the biggest challenge.

“Winning: it’s as simple as that. After all the fanfare, Riley must bring USC back to national competition in year one,” Jeyarajah wrote. perhaps the greatest transfer class in football history. Heisman claiming quarterback Caleb Williams followed Oklahoma’s Riley and winning wide receiver Biletnikoff Jordan Addison joins the fray in May. Eleven defensive transfers have been signed up to rebuild Alex Grinch’s defence. There will be no transition. USC will have expectations for the college football playoffs right away. The pressure is unprecedented.
