Here’s an All-Star not known for his power and a red hot Marlin, trying to propel the team off the bases in every offensive category with his mighty bat.
Gimenez has been fantastic this season, his first All-Star campaign, and has dominated right-handed pitching this season, hitting nearly .300 this season with 13 of his 16 homers against right-handed pitchers.
Bailey Ober will make his first start since early June on Friday night and could be in trouble against the Guardians roster, so I’ll try long-odds Gimenez, who has an OPS north of .840 at Progressive Field. – Reed Wallach
Bryan De La Cruz – (+520) – Miami Marlins vs. Washington Nationals
There’s one thing I know for sure about this game and that’s the fact that Josiah Gray is going to give up a home run.
He allowed a home run in 12 consecutive starts and conceded 12 in his last six starts. De La Cruz is in an ideal position to capitalize on that.
De La Cruz has hit nine homers this year, including two last week. Plus, he hit eight of his nine home runs against right-handers — which Gray is. If Gray is going to continue to be reckless, De La Cruz has great value to hit deep today. –Donnavan Smoot
