The Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Reds continue their four-game series tonight at PNC Park. Despite having two of the worst teams in baseball, I expect them to match up well and produce an exciting game to end the week.
This is a rematch of last weekend’s series where the Pirates won two of the Reds’ three games by a combined score of 24-15. So not only exciting, but also matches with very high scores from these teams.

Reds vs Pirates prediction and selection
I believe the high-scoring games between these two teams are not over yet thanks to some tough starting pitchers in this game. The Reds will take out Tyler Mahle while the Pirates counter with Mitch Keller. Neither looked good at all and with a combined record of 1-7 W/L.
Curiously, the pair compares very well in terms of H2H stats. Keller is 0-4 with a 6.11 ERA and 1.54 WHIP. Mahle’s numbers are slightly worse with an ERA of 6.46 and a WHIP of 1.57. He has at least one win.
Those who follow this site daily will know that I haven’t bet once on the Reds this year. In fact, I talked about them disappearing automatically until they show signs of life. I think the time has come unfortunately as I had a lot of fun watching the Reds work their way down the history books. Heading into this series, the Reds are 4-2 SU in their last six games. Not a huge feat for most, but they doubled their season wins in four games. They also took two games from a very good Brewers team.
As my blind Reds fades come to an end, that doesn’t mean I trust them enough to bet on them. I think both offenses have been on fire and warrant an OVER pick with such poor starters on the mound.
