Prop pick Titans vs Chiefs Week 9: Bet on a Valdes-Scantling rush game on SNF

The Tennessee Titans travel to Kansas City in Week 9 to take on the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football.

The pre-game story: Tennessee lacks corner depth, which is great news for the explosive Marquez Valdes-Scantling. JuJu Smith-Schuster is one of the most targeted receivers in the red zone, making him a great bet to score. Finally, we like that newly named starter Isaiah Pacheco has a solid game.

Below are our top Titans vs Chiefs Week 9 prop picks for November 6th.

Titans vs Chiefs Week 9 Prop Picks

Best bet : Valdes-Scantling on 40.5 receiving yards (-113)

Valdes-Scantling is the definition of a booming wide receiver and we’ll be looking at his volatility against Tennessee.

The reason is the team’s obvious lack of talent at the cornerback position. Titans rank 13th in covering WR1s per DVOA, according to Football Outsiders, but they have trouble removing WR2s and beyond. They rank 27th in DVOA at coverage against No. 2 options and 25th against all other wides.

Although Valdes-Scantling actually leads all Chiefs wide receivers with 348, he is second on the depth chart behind Smith-Schuster. He’ll likely see a healthy dose of Terrance Mitchell from Tennessee, and it’s a game he can exploit.

Mitchell ranks 74th in the NFL with a coverage rating of -8.9, according to PlayerProfiler. He runs a 40-yard dash of 4.63 seconds at the 11th percentile, and Valdes-Scantling should exploit that with his 4.37-second, 40-yard dash wheels.

Valdes-Scantling’s big-play ability gives him the potential to clear that total on one catch, as he did against the San Francisco 49ers with a 57-yard catch on his last outing.

Key stat: Valdes-Scantling has exceeded that total in five of seven games this season.

Quick Picks

Smith-Schuster touchdown anytime (+123): An anytime TD bet on a wide receiver who is heavily targeted in the red zone of a Patrick Mahomes offense is a solid bet to make.

Smith-Schuster is tied for 11th in the NFL in red zone targets with nine. Seven of them have also come in his last three games, showing he is starting to earn Mahomes’ trust. Additionally, the Titans are tied for allowing the fourth-most touchdowns (nine) to wide receivers this year.

Pacheco on 39.5 rushing yards (-114): Kansas City is a 12.5-point favorite in this game, which means it should take a big lead. A hot start could put the Chiefs in a position to rule the game, and there’s no better opportunity to see what they’ve got in rookie Pacheco than on Sunday.

The Titans are the best point defense by DVOA, which could allow Andy Reid to test his young back against a formidable unit. In Pacheco’s first game as a starter against the 49ers, he converted eight carries for 43 yards.
