Is Chase Elliott the best bet to finish first at Dover?

Erik Jones was a tri-oval away from cashing in as the 70/1 winner.

Jones led the field at Talladega Superspeedway until the checkered flag before going high to block a run from Kyle Larson.

Then chaos ensued.

Jones’ momentum was stopped, the cars collided high up and Ross Chastain held him straight down to secure his second win of the season.

At 70/1, all you can ask for is luck, and Jones certainly gave his bettors that by running out front all day and leading much of the final lap.

Welp, to Dover now.

Each week brings a unique aspect to NASCAR betting drivers and teams as the NextGen car makes its debut at a new track. The 1-mile Dover Motor Speedway presents a new set of challenges with its concrete surface and banked turns.

In 10 races this season, Hendrick Motorsports has established itself as the best team. Hendrick has four wins, with William Byron picking up two wins and Kyle Larson and Alex Bowman picking up one win apiece.

Hendrick is also the big favorite this weekend at Dover. All four drivers top the FanDuel Sportsbook odds chart, with Larson the favorite at +450 and Byron joining Chase Elliott at +900. Bowman has the fourth best odds at +1000.

I am also looking to support a Hendrick driver on Sunday.

Best bet

Chase Elliott has +900 at FanDuel Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook.

The Hendrick driver leading the points standings so far is the one who has yet to win a race. Elliott was close, totaling six top 10 finishes in 10 races. He had one of the best cars at Martinsville, where he led 185 of 403 laps.

Dover was one of Elliott’s best leads. He has one win and eight top five finishes in 11 races at the track. Given his track history and form this season, it’s only a matter of time before Elliott joins his teammates in the win category. Dover might be where it does.
