Date: Wednesday, November 2, 2022
Time: 10:00 p.m. ET
Venue: Moda Center—Portland, OR
The 2022-23 NBA season continues Wednesday night with an exciting game between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Portland Trail Blazers. The Grizzlies are coming off back-to-back losses to the Utah Jazz. Monday’s effort in a 121-105 loss was led by Ja Morant’s 37 points (12 of 18 shots).
Meanwhile, Portland took care of business in a 125-111 win over the Houston Rockets on Friday. Anfernee Simons stepped up again in the absence of Damian Lillard with 30 points (10 of 20), 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Jusuf Nurkic had a double-double with 27 points and 15 rebounds.

The Grizzlies enter this contest as notable road favorites on the money line and are spreading over FanDuel Sportsbook odds. This 10 p.m. ET matchup also features a total of 226, which is among the highest of Wednesday’s projected totals.
Morant was able to return from an ankle injury on Monday, but Memphis was without its best long-range shooter in Desmond Bane. Bane remains doubtful of playing tonight with his own ankle injury, which makes supporting the Grizzlies a risky option. Portland also comes in with a ton of momentum.
The Trail Blazers showed Monday that they are more than Damian Lillard. This is a team that ranks sixth in offensive efficiency and ninth in defensive efficiency. Nurkic has a chance to split a Grizzlies defense that’s giving up 51.7 points in the paint per game (No. 20 in the NBA).
Portland is 4-1 in its last five games against Memphis, so I’ll back them to keep rolling.
Final score prediction: Grizzlies: 111 | Pioneers: 115
– Memphis is 1-4 in its last five games against Portland.
– The total has gone over the total in four of Memphis’ last six games.
– Portland is 5-1 ATS (ATS) in its last six games.
– The total has reached the unders in five of Portland’s last six games against Memphis.
Not only is Portland 4-1 in its last five games against Memphis, but it’s also 4-1 ATS in that span. That includes a 123-119 win in February in a game Lillard couldn’t prepare for. Nurkic wasted 32 points and 8 rebounds, while Simons had 5 three-pointers.
It’s worth mentioning that Memphis has struggled to keep the games close on the road this season. The Grizzlies have lost six of their last eight road games since last season. On the other side, Portland is playing its best basketball in years and is 5-1 ATS so far this season.
Bet: Portland Trail Blazers +4.5 (-110)
