Game 6 pick Rangers vs. Lightning: Bet on the bolts to reach the cup

The Tampa Bay Lightning beat the New York Rangers 3-1 in Game 5 and can now wrap up the Eastern Conference Finals at home.

The pre-game story: The Rangers head to Tampa Bay in desperate need of something that’s been hard to come by: a road win. New York is just 2-7 on the road in the playoffs, but both of those wins came in the face of elimination. Do the Blueshirts have another must win on the road?

Check out our Game 6 Rangers vs Lightning selections for June 11.

  • Both teams will score at least 2 goals – Yes (-120)

Rangers Picks Against Lightning

Best bet: Lightning 60 mins ML (-107)

The New York Attack has become completely stale and figuring it out on the road seems highly unlikely.

Rangers scored just a 5 against 5 goal in their last three games and that includes zero on the road in the two games they have played at Amalie Arena. They’ve been outscored 6-1 5-5 in that streak and a big reason for that is Andrei Vasilevskiy’s quality of play.

The Big Cat have turned away 86 of the last 90 shots they’ve faced, earning them an otherworldly .956 save percentage over the last three games.

Tampa Bay also topped the 5v5 high danger odds, outscoring New York 41-16 in that department in its three wins. That widened the Bolts’ lead in that category to 67-37 in this series.

The Lightning are the good game at home in Game 6 after three straight wins.

Key stat: Tampa Bay has won six of its last 10 home series and is 3-1 in games where it has held a 3-2 lead since 2020.

Quick Picks

Lightning -1.5 goals (+150): The Lightning have beaten New York 7-2 in the last two games. They also generated four 5-on-5 goals on high-danger chances in that span, as many as Rangers have scored in all series.

The Bolts have covered that number in four of their seven playoff home games.

Both teams will score at least 2 goals – Yes (-120): What New York does offensively doesn’t work. Rangers need to produce more scoring chances on the road, which means taking more risks. We expect New York to be a bit more aggressive in Game 6 and create more chances at each end of the rink.

Odds as of 8:33 a.m. ET 6/10/2022.
