Both teams are looking to improve the 2021 seasons with new faces in mind.
Jacksonville went 3-14 mostly under defrocked Urban Meyer, who did not survive the campaign after weaknesses on and off the field. Meyer was replaced by offensive guru Doug Pederson.
Las Vegas was 10-7, making the playoffs, but parting ways during the season with, you guessed it, defrocked coach Jon Gruden. Gruden resigned in October after misogynistic and homophobic comments were revealed in emails. Josh McDaniels takes over the Silver and Black. Like Pederson, he is touted for his attacking pedigree.
FrontPageBets is looking at a better bet for the pre-season opener.
How much progress will we see from the Jaguars’ vaunted quarterback Trevor Lawrence (12 touchdowns vs. 17 interceptions)?
The defense, 29th in the championship in 2021, has plenty of room for improvement.
Las Vegas Quarterback Derek Carr gets a dynamic addition to his arsenal in the receiver Davante Adams. Adams, acquired from Green Bay Packers, contributed more than 1,500 yards and 11 touchdowns a year ago. Wide versatility Renfrow Hunter will team up with Adams to pack some punch.
tight end Darren Waller is an impact player.
The offensive line brings back all its holders with a sometimes fleeting outfit.
On the defensive side, the Raiders need to fortify a unit that was 26th in points surrendered a year ago.
Since beginners will play sparingly, if at all, you won’t see a very polished product.
With DraftKings setting the Over/Under at 30.5, and with both teams barely a week into training camp, don’t expect any offensive outbursts.
