Seattle vs. Houston

Houston opened with -120 home favorites against Seattle in this game scheduled for 8:10 p.m. ET.

A steady stream of bets backing the Astros moved the line to -133 on multiple sportsbooks.

The total opened at 8.5 points and remained static at this price with balanced action on both sides of the total.

A difficult pitch match

Marco Gonzalez starts for the Mariners and is 9-1 under against a team that is .255 or worse and 10-0 under against an opponent with .330 or less on-base percentage in the two recent seasons.

He is coming off his best start, a seven inning game against Houston in which he allowed an earned run on four hits, no walks and six strikeouts in an 11-1 win.

Jake Odorizzi will start for the Astros and he was on the other end of the game 11-1.

Astros manager Dusty Baker has been forced to change his batting order over the past 10 games, looking for the right combination of power and contact.

Houston is 7-2 against a left-handed starting pitcher, averaging 5.4 points per game with a .452 hitting percentage over the past two seasons.

I bet the Houston Astros on the moneyline, between -130 and -140.

Atlanta vs NY Mets

The Mets have earned $455 for the $100 bettor in their MLB-best 22 games.

The defending champions Braves are off to a slow start and are down $425 for the $100 bettor.

So that presents a contrarian betting opportunity that wipes out the Mets, who are coming off a 2-1 series win over the divisional rival Philadelphia Phillies in tonight’s game starting at 7:10 a.m. ET.

A very profitable betting situation

Here’s a profitable betting angle that’s had a 37-15 record for 71% wins over the past 25 MLB seasons and an 8-2 record for 80% wins over the past three seasons.

Bet on a team involved in a game lined up between +125 and -125 on the moneyline with a below average OBP of 310 or less, starting a pitcher who posted an ERA of 6.25 or worse and faces an opponent who starts a pitcher with above average control with a WHIP of 1.25 or less.

Braves starter Charlie Morton is monumentally better than his 7.00 ERA and 1.779 WHIP. If not, then why is the market pricing this pick-em game with the Mets starting former Oakland A ace Chris Bassett, who sports a 2.25 ERA and WHIP? of 0.917.

My best bet is on the Braves using the moneyline, currently at +100 and valid if the Braves are a favorite of no more than -115.
